During (Gabrielle) Coco Chanel’s fashion shows which were held downstairs, the art-deco staircase had an influence on the world of Coco Chanel. She mysteriously sat on the stairs watching the audiences reaction to her collection with help from mirrors adorning the wall.

Deep red accents are used throughout her apartment. Coco Chanel has been photographed many times in this standout white chair in front of the deep red backdrop. The octogonal mirror was her muse for the Chanel N.5 cap. The space has not only been visited by journalist but famous friends such as Elizabeth Taylor, Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso.

Coco Chanel designed this couch with suede which was quite unusual at the time. During that time period it was customary to use silk or velvet. She was quite the style maven. Books may reflect a sort of stature and knowledge of the world and her craft. The use of books on a smaller scale is still a wonderful way to add interest to a space.

There is a modern elegance that sets the tone of this particular space. This refreshing take of an octagonal mirror on either side of the marble fire place brings a new take to a traditional upscale space. She chose black laquer for the side tables which were once marble.
